Temple Priest with rats(Gods) sharing lunch, Rajasthan, 1989

If I try to tell you the story of the Rat Temple without the photograph you would either call me crazy or not believe me but all has changed in 2007 with Social Media via smart phones. You notice in the picture a man sitting on the floor eating his meal with the rats or here in this setting known as Gods. It turns out, he is a priest and as a priest you have to come to the level of your God. That is why he is on the ground, because he is on the same level as his Gods and they can eat of his plate. Yummy
The Temple, which is a very famous holy shrine dedicated to Goddess Karni, a reincarnation of Maa Durga(Godess), the temple is a home to over 20,000 black rats that live, eat and are worshiped here.
