About

Travelling millions of miles to more than 95 Countries. I have spent most of my life on the road. As a self-taught photographer my wanderlust began as a 16 years old hitchhiker when I ventured from Dublin out to the west of Ireland I guess that's where the bug set in. Four years on, I left my native country in search of work like half of the Irish population between the ages of 18 and 30, during the recession of the 1980's.
I ended up in Amsterdam getting a job cleaning offices. In my spare time I taught myself photography.
Without any goal or direction, I showed a friend in Holland who was a photographer some of my photographs and asked what I could do to improve them. He told me to buy a good lens which I did. I decided to walk the streets of Amsterdam for hours every afternoon keeping my eyes open for anything that looked out of the ordinary. I spent more than a year teaching myself the basics of photography.
Little did I know at the time, that was the start of my profession and my passion. My work has appeared in Time Magazine, Newsweek and on covers of Rough Guide, Lonely Planet and many travel brochures and magazines around the World.
At the the age of 63 I was watching David Attenborough on TV who was 93 and was still going strong. I was thinking he is 30 years my senior and listening to his enthusiastic way on life it inspired me to make a move.
Sitting in a small flat back in Ireland I started with a plan to get back being active and at that time having just received a pocket video camera DJI. I made up my mind to travel and make small videos and here we are almost 4 years on and loosing 2 of them to The COVID-19 pandemic. I expect my youtube channel to be UP BY JUNE 15th 2023. I will start with some stories relating to my photography and then Videos on many topics in Asia.
This Website is not a Photo Stock Library but it is my Personal Journey of more than 40 years...............on the Road
