I have gone at least 6 times and love the horse fair as I lived more than 30 years it Holland for me it was always a breath of fresh air to be back to a lovely rural setting like a horse fair and not to mention great subjects to photograph. Michael Considine, who emigrated from the area in 1870, to the USA composed the popular Irish folk ballad, Spancil Hill. It highlights the plight of Irish emigrants who longed for home from their new lives in the US. The song is sung by a man who longs for his horse in Spancilhill, County Clare, his family, friends and the love he left behind. It is a popular emigrant song among the Irish in Ireland and the Diaspora.
