Majestic Taj, Taj Mahal, India, 2007 - The Story behind the Photograph
Majestic Taj, Taj Mahal, India, 2007

The first two times I travelled to India 1985/1987.
I seriously had problems with the culture and had no desire to go back, The first lasted 4 days and second 8 days respectfully. So many people, the noise, the heat, and how to avoid having the SHITS as that topic was one of the main conversation points as in the 1980ths, as you always met and had time for your fellow traveler's at tea stalls or small places to eat, but the greatest one for me: poverty (it was everywhere). India did not appeal to me at all but was the cheapest route to get to Nepal and I knew people living in Delhi.
But as fate would have it while at the Frankfurt Book fair Germany 1989, I was asked to go back on my first major assignment to Rajasthan, India in 1989 as a Travel Photographer.
Each time over the 13 times I was there, I would try to visit the Taj Mahal as it was the and is one of the most Iconic buildings in the World and also by 1990 I was working as a stock photographer for Tony Stone Images in London.......and in the good old days and it was as we say a bestseller if you had the right shot.
I liked to be different and look for new angles and from the back of the Taj Mahal I arrived 30 minutes before sunset to my Amazement to see this, I title it Majestic Taj as this simple Majestic family were washing vegetables and with such setting's and background for sure for me it will never be repeated to find again like this.
Some comments made about this image is that it looks like a National Geographic photo and another was it was the best photo they had ever seen of the Taj Mahal.
Enjoy
